14k SOLID GOLD
Our 14k solid gold is the timeless material that will not discolor or oxidize over time. The warm yellow glow doesn’t dull with your busy life. This durable material does not wear or bend like its friend, 18k gold.
If you’d like to give your gold a bath, this simple homemade concoction will do the trick. Soak your gold jewelry in a mixture of 2 parts liquid dish soap and 10 parts warm water for just a couple of hours. Gently scrub your jewelry with a clean toothbrush and dry with a soft cloth.
Sterling silver is the perfect finish for signature everyday pieces. But when it comes to this material, wearing is caring. If not worn and left out, sterling silver can tarnish over time from exposure to the air. However this process is much less likely to occur when your sterling silver pieces are worn often and with love.
If your sterling silver jewelry won’t be worn regularly, there are preventative measures you can take to avoid tarnishing. Because air and sulfur are sterling silver’s worst enemies, it’s best to keep your jewelry in an air-tight location, away from wool, latex, and other sulfur-containing materials. We recommend that you store your pieces in an airtight bag, in its original box.
If your piece has already tarnished, don’t despair! There are some quick and easy ways to restore sterling silver to its original shine. For an easy homemade solution, you can brighten up your silver using baking soda, water and aluminum foil. Line the bottom of a glass bowl or cup with the foil. Next, place your silver jewelry on top of the foil and sprinkle a thin layer of baking soda directly on the piece. Add boiling water to the cup/bowl and wait a minute or less to see the tarnish vanish. Carefully remove your jewelry and wipe it down with a soft cloth, ideally a microfiber towel.
BRASS / BRONZE
Brass and bronze each have their own beautifully distinct warm gold tone. Brass tends to shine with a yellower finish and color whereas bronze has redder and pinker undertones. Both are perfect for everyday, affordable jewelry.
Brass and bronze pieces tend to darken when worn close to the skin. Here are a few tips for keeping your brass and bronze in its original condition. The easiest way to prevent darkening is to avoid getting your brass or bronze piece wet.
If your pieces have already tarnished, the dark hue is easy to remove with a polishing cloth (which can be found at your local craft store) or any commercial brass/bronze cleaner from a hardware or drug store.
